Many consumer items—hand tools, lawn and garden equipment, ladders, etc. and so on—can be borrowed instead of purchased. If you’re only going to be using a garden tiller once a year, you’ve contributed to a relatively inefficient manufacture-to-use ratio; put that same piece of equipment into shared service, and the differential is vastly improved.

SEAC’s Tool Lending Library is a convenient resource for residents of southeast Rochester, or any member regardless of their address. Through SEAC’s Tool Lending Library, members choose from a large inventory of hand and power tools for almost every job in or around the house. Tools are signed out and borrowed (just like library books) for up to two weeks. You’ll save time and money by making fewer trips to the stores for tools you may only use once or twice. And if you don’t buy it, you don’t have to make room for its storage nor have to worry about maintenance.

For the “do-it-yourselfer”, SEAC’s Tool Lending Library offers almost everything needed to help tackle seasonal or annual maintenance projects, as well as the unexpected headaches every homeowner faces. While many “do-it-yourselfers” start out small, as their confidence and capabilities build, so does the likelihood that they’ll be willing to take on larger repairs, if the need arises.
